Oriental Quilt

Finally finished the Oriental Quilt for Carol Ann Loo! She sent  a bundle of coordinating fabric to me back before Christmas of last year! With a crazy schedule do to work for a few months all creative projects were put on hold. But life has calmed down and I buckled down and finished it!! Now on to quilt #2!!

First I took the bundle of fabrics and cut them using the Go Baby cutter from Accuquilt. I cut the fabrics into 2" wide strips and sewed them together. Then had no idea what to do with them!!

I cut the long strips into squares and layed them out until I found a pattern that I liked.

I added strips of gold silk cloth to make a border around each squared block. And added a little black square in between to give it a nice contrast.

All done! I used a red fabric with small gold dots for the backing and machine quilted it using a stencil design. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the actual quilting. The binding is made of the same material from the backing. This quilt has been given to its new owner and is happily residing over the back of the couch in the Loo house.
